Worksheet: Screening Movie the Da Vinci Code based on novel by Dan Brown

Post-viewing Task:

1.                Brown states on his website that his books are not anti-Christian, though he is on a 'constant spiritual journey' himself, and says that his book The Da Vinci Code is simply "an entertaining story that promotes spiritual discussion and debate" and suggests that the book may be used "as a positive catalyst for introspection and exploration of our faith."

If we read the Dan brown so we find it’s not against Christianity but exploration of our faith so Dan brown is a mystery thriller Da Vinci Code is history thriller novel.  There some reference Priory of Sion, Opus day, Christianity is question in this and other characters are also there is a cryptology female protagonist. Sophie enters the title of the novel Vinci its means Italian words.
Film is published in 2006 the problem of this film is very controversy; text was because of question Christianity raise some questions against Christian religious. That and film also highly controversial. And very first page entry why is Da Vinci Code when book what are the reason, this reason are very interesting when we are look into.
So that proves that this text is highly sensitive text. Because it’s on Christianity, and foundation of Christianity. Are questions the basic foundation of Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ having affair or marriage either or affair a prostitute lady Mary Magdalene. Was a prostitute and who followers of Jesus Christ letter became.
And it is believed that they used to have sexual relation also maybe, inside the marriage or outside. Where is hidden marriage people don't know Jesus Christ Marry or not or without that when Jesus Christ was nailed on the road. She was pregnant. So she already wears a child and the children of Mary Magdalene. where I live so many years and I even alive today's also that is what the text says he connect with myth of Jesus Christ something which is really happening in 21st century now this is the pure imagination on of Dan Brown but he imaging in a such a way that historical evidence  people feel that maybe right .

2) “Although it is obvious that much of what Brown presented in his novel as absolutely true and accurate is neither of those, some of that material is of course essential to the intrigue, and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman has retained the novel's core, the Grail-related material: the sacred feminine, Mary Magdalene's marriage, the Priory of Sion, certain aspects of Leonardo's art, and so on[1].” How far do you agree with this observation of Norris J. Lacy?

Narrative of Da Vinci Code film there are three quest  in  novel and film both has three quest that is unfolding first about murderer identity of murderer at one level novel is a thriller murder mystery somebody died. Jacques sauniere curator of museum.  Still in the beginning only event happen the beginning novel also so who is murderer that is first quest.  second quest is about identity of Sophia who really she is that, Quest then story move on to identify after murderer with identify then story moves on so identity of Sofia is also Sofia is Bloodline of Jesus Christ she is daughter of after so many generation Mary Magdalene that is the identity of Sofia that is it on covering she is a Bloodline of Jesus Christ and this is living Bloodline she not he that goes idea with sacred feminine .
And the third Quest is about real identity of Holy Grail holy grail is very old archetype or Quest of Holy Grail. There are so many legends or myth in Christianity about Holy Grail so what is Holy Grail. When we see Holy Grail means bowel and spear. In Bible Jesus Christ had last wine or Last Supper the photograph of The Vinci Code is drawing and had something that there date is Holy some Say blood also taken last blood wine and Spear which in the body Jesus Christ when he was worried so blood of Jesus was in the sphere also so they make boat symbol together spear and the bowl together make Holy Grail show in the title of the film  opens up very simple way it's open we see this symbol is together . Basic settings of the film are Louvre museum in France very famous museum where does paintings are there that museum is curates by Jacques sauniere his murderers in louver museum. That is highly historical place.
In the novel Dan Brown also, debate about importance of women's role of women in Christianity was also debated. that is another important. Dan Brown is taking in this novel. Novel female critique of the Church Christian centric most of the Catholic Church gradually moving. in the right direction respect of women rights an object to Opus day which threaten rivers the problem.  Feminist Scholars the novel assertion that Mary Magdalene played very important role when the official Bible feminist is suppressed by Christianity.

Da Vinci Leonardo Da Vinci not present but Last Supper is happening. He is drawing something is again me last supper is a myth and he drawing painting was something so why he would do this Leonardo Da Vinci why he do he put women in coded way. So he headed man in convert in to female but here another conspiracy theory so was Leonardo da Vinci was also secret keeper there is a series of secret keeper. Where the Priory of Sion Priory of Sion Dan Brown is begins to book.

3)               (If)You have studied ‘Genesis’ (The Bible), ‘The Paradise Lost’ (John Milton) and ‘The Da Vinci Code’ (Dan Brown). Which of the narrative/s seem/s to be truthful? Whose narrative is convincing to the contemporary young mind?

As per my understating , we know that paradise lost by john Milton tell some kind of ancient or traditional story how to put faith blindly on that, no  doubt   it may be  true also.  but If  we study the Da Vinci code by Dan brown so it’s seems  also Really convincing story to anybody read so they might be fill that the way he narrate the story. Any young mind fill that it’s really happened  episode in the real word. So find that Dan brown narrated is truthful narration.

4)               What harm has been done to humanity by the biblical narration or that of Milton’s in The Paradise Lose? What sort of damage does narrative like ‘The Vinci Code’ do to humanity?

If we compare both so we get some debate on ancient vs. Modern. Because we know that in paradise lost by Milton doesn’t give the voice of the female character then here we see the character of the Sophia is more rational and doesn’t believe on any such magic or faith on god. So patriarchy society will find more problems on that. So similarly harm has been done humanity.

5)   What difference do you see in the portrayal of 'Ophelia' (Kate Winslet) in Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet, 'Elizabeth' (Helena Bonham Carter) in Kenneth Branagh's Mary Shelley's Frankenstein or 'Hester Prynne' (Demi Moore) in Roland Joffé's The Scarlet Letter' or David Yates's 'Harmione Granger' (Emma Watson) in last four Harry Potter films - and 'Sophie Neuve' (Audrey Tautau) in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code? How would justify your answer?

This question leads toward on search on all Christian religious follower female character how portaied various novel.  So first of all we clarified that all character the under the control of male. Because we know that Christianity religion is more patriarchy.  Only excluding Hermione and Sophia they both are more rational and knowledgeable character portrait by novelist. All else is suffering some kind of the purity idea on aura of religious. We see in the novel scarlet letter there is Hester suffering for puritan religion sin and punishment idea.  But Dan brown and J. K. Rowling female narration are more powerful. They break the some boundary and give the voice of the female character.

6)    Explain Ann Gray’s three propositions on ‘knowability’ with illustrations from the novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’.
a.       1) Identifying what is knowable
b.      2) Identifying and acknowledging the relationship of the knower and the known
c.      3) What is the procedure for ‘knowing’?

The knowability idea of four columns is that,
 I know what I know
 I don't know what I know
 I don't know what I know
 I don't know what I don't know
Point that way knoability really something interesting happening. So how do we know what we don't know this is when I don't know what I don't know? How can I know so preposition of the knowability it is very complex things. As soon as I know something it is changing direction. I don't know what I don't know that place is blank in that way, how we identifying. Knowable how can we know the relationship of knower and none. This is very important three Quests,
What is mother, who is Sophie know. first about murderer identity
Who is grandfather; the parents are what self knowing. second quest is about identity of Sophia
And third Quest is Robert Langdon what is writing. third Quest is about real identity of Holy Grail holy grail
So they know exactly which he knows perhaps he don't know all of a sudden some kind of when the knowledge Down for we. When knowledge Down all of a sudden he goes for reading they remember all those things that I am writing this way then he goes for searching then he knows something this is the proposition of the nobility.
Thank You...
