The movie review

Modern Times is a 1936 comedy written, directed by and starring Charlie Chaplin. It is considered one of his most important films alongside classics.  One of the many remarkable things about 'Charlie Chaplin' is that his films continue to hold up, to attract and delight audience.

His Tramp character already has an extraordinary popularity. He invented the character of a generous and sensible vagabond two decades earlier, on the eve of the Great War. Charlie embodies the suffering of the dispossessed. Modern Times  marks the last appearance of the Tramp Chaplin's. Mass unemployment coincides with the industrial mechanization .which is inscribed a bombastic sentence: “a story about the industry, individual initiative and the crusade of humanity in the pursuit of happiness”. Immediately after, the director juxtaposes sheep and workers emerging from.

Charlie Chaplin criticize to human because there is character your self how he passing the time because he was not to do work.

2)  The great dictator:

The Great Dictator was popular to audiences, becoming Chaplin's most commercially successful film.   This movie based on political satire because there is "Jew" community people.

In this movie Charlie Chaplin is in double role 1) barber
                                             2) Hynkel.

Last scene there is   speech in which poor barber talks about Democracy and unity  that the power which is taken by political figures from people is return to people. He said to be a natural men don't depend upon machines and Humanity is superior to all and told to soldiers fight for not slavery but for Liberty because Liberty never perish even men dies.

Modernist literature.

Identifying Modernist Metaphors/Symbols/Images in Short Poems

Hello Readers,

This blog is a part of my classroom activity given below:

Let us see first, what is Modernism?

What is modernism ?

Modernism refer to early twentieth century. The early twentieth century writers not follow same way of writing or  tradition  way of writing but they were broken rule.

Modernism is try something, they were experimenting something, they were try to hold something which was totally breaking away . Modern time had another shock,  in Nietzsche, Freud French philosopher who said "God was dead" .

Victorian life was stable it's trace on morality,  its trace on simplicity, it's wanted to sustain faith in each other, its so in short  can say,

Modernism is new experimentation,  is new what forms, new psychological study, new social structure by Karl Marx, new   theory by Charles Darwin, new scribble work rather than emotions, new illusion education all these together form, New human expressions that is called modernism.

Here are analyzed, and identify, modern is metaphor, symbols, images, from the given poem.

1)  The Embankment by T.E.Hulme.

Once, in finesse of fiddles found I ecstasy,
In a flash of gold heels on the hard pavement.
Now see I
That warmth’s the very stuff of poesy.
Oh, God, make small
The old star-eaten blanket of the sky,
That I may fold it round me and in comfort lie.

In this poem baise on "fatal love and inevitable death".
Embankment is area well-known for homeless people sleeping rough. a fallen gentleman reflects on his past, not just men down on their luck but often by implication. those who had secured to sexual Temptation, and then subsequently relied, emotionally, or financially, and had treated stars. In hulme is out to questions our notions that the starry sky as beautiful and romantic and moth eaten blanket as squalid and on narrative but to the speaker freezing to death on London street the blanket is more immediately valuable and beautiful than the sky above him .

In other words good poetry deals with necessary and include only they necessary.

In this poem poets present set how people are living life in like insoueiace way with lifeless poet Express their emotions and feelings into the literature." poet say I make for myself little poems" In an ought of the their have no rule and regulation, excitement all were equal and one of them can be isolated it's symbol of the , reference like ' why winged doves' use of the modern culture or living life .

7)  morning at the window by T.S. Eliot

T. S. Eliot, 1888 - 1965

They are rattling breakfast plates in basement kitchens,
And along the trampled edges of the street
I am aware of the damp souls of housemaids
Sprouting despondently at area gates.
The brown waves of fog toss up to me
Twisted faces from the bottom of the street,
And tear from a passer-by with muddy skirts          An aimless smile that
hovers in the air    And vanishes along the level of the roofs.

Morning at the window is an images poem that present an image of poverty . The picture is that of a slum where people lead miserable live . The speaker is at the window I'm a visitor certain house in the area with poor people live.
The whole set of images in the poem as symbols. The imaginary familiar and vivid it can be said to symbolize poverty . Poverty it's also suggest depression misery end squalor in the slums ( poor and dirty areas of the city's)  where the poor live.

8)  The Red wheelbarrow by William Carlos Williams

upon

a red wheel
barrow

glazed with rain
water

beside the white
chickens.

9)  Anecdote of the jar by Wallace Stevens.

I placed a jar in Tennessee,
And round it was, upon a hill.
It made the slovenly wilderness
Surround that hill.

The wilderness rose up to it,
And sprawled around, no longer wild.
The jar was round upon the ground
And tall and of a port in air.

It took dominion everywhere.
The jar was gray and bare.
It did not give of bird or bush,
Like nothing else in Tennessee.

This poem all about the jar is centre end speaker present say beauty of her and compared with nature . The jar as a symbol of the imagination is not fertile and cannot recycle itself or reproduce thought it May imagination be richer than the nature both have their uniqueness and yet we feel that.
